Maternal dietary changes during breastfeeding such as a trial of the low FODMAP diet may help settle baby’s colic. The low FODMAP (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols) diet recommends avoiding some poorly absorbed carbohydrates such as wheat, high-lactose dairy, garlic, onions, certain fruits, beans and processed meats. More studies are needed.
